Member Story: Joyce

Member Story: Robert

Robert was looking for a good doctor “who will take you in when you are sick and not four weeks later, because that’s the only opening they have,” he said.

“I’m sure a lot of people have encountered that problem. On top of that, I didn’t have health insurance,” Robert said.

Member Story: David

After reaching age 62, David experienced a doctor shortage. His long-time physician retired. Then the next one he found as a replacement closed his practice. Searching for another physician, he was often told, “the doctor is not accepting new patients.”

It was quite unsettling to not know if he would find another doctor whom the insurance company would approve. Urgent Care, his only other option, was satisfactory, but not satisfying.

“As a Medicare-aged patient, I realized that paying an extra fee for Direct Primary Care is solely my option. I could take the insurance company assigned doctor and pay less, but he or she might be less thorough and might be gone next year, too,” David said. Read more about David’s experience.
